Iter per florem & iter per astra
Together with my sister, the artist Tilda Hedengren, I created two murals in two pedestrian tunnels on behalf of Sala kommun. The paintings are over 300 square meters.
We them "Iter per Florem - through the flower" and "Iter per Astra - through space". The idea of the artworks is that they transform the unsafe dark tunnels into portals that take you to another world. To get there you have to run through the universe, speeding between the stars. On the other side, you might be infinite. Maybe you'll bloom to something new on the way. The portals between heaven and earth.
The motifs were created in collaboration with local children at a workshop during the summer. the aim of the project is to create a safer and more playful urban environment.

Process
It all started with a workshop with local kids from Sala. They were all very fascinated by space and nature, so with this in mind I made collages and sketches.
Flowers, fantasy creatures, space and bunnies were some of the themes the kids wanted to see in the paintings.
Workshops is one of the best thing about my job!
In the studio i worked with scale 1:1 and small collages simultaneously to get a feeling for the project befor starting in big scale.
Then we started painting. It took three weeks and it was cold, sweaty and fantastic.
